How it works

Step 1 - Wellness management initial consultation

This is the starting point for all new Wellness Management clients. It’s required before enrolling in a membership or scheduling à la carte visits and may require two visits, at the discretion of the provider.

Visit 1 - This is a 60-minute visit where we’ll review your comprehensive health history, symptoms and/or concerns, most recent lab results (if any), medications and supplements, lifestyle, and goals. Based on this evaluation, we may recommend personalized lab work or begin treatment, and may recommend a follow-up appointment.

Visit 2 - If a follow-up appointment was suggested at the time of your initial visit, a second 20-minute follow-up visit will be scheduled to review results, symptoms, follow up on medications, or discuss next steps.

You’ll receive personalized guidance on lifestyle, supplements, if necessary, hormone/prescription options, as well as referrals/follow-up lab orders.

  • We blend advanced technology with a whole-person approach to help you take control of your health. By integrating tools like Whoop, Fitbit, and Apple Health, we’re able to track key health markers — from activity levels and sleep patterns to heart rate and recovery.

These real-time insights help us understand how your body is responding day to day, so we can offer personalized guidance that aligns with your goals and lifestyle. It’s not just about numbers — it’s about using data to support smarter, more effective care built around you.

  • By reviewing your health data, we can spot early signs of potential issues, fine-tune your fitness and recovery, and create wellness strategies tailored to your unique needs.

Our mission is to help you move beyond reactive care and step into a proactive, purpose-driven approach to health — one that supports not just a longer life, but a better one.

Your well-being isn’t just a priority — it’s the heart of everything we do.

  • Tracking key areas like activity, sleep, nutrition, and hydration helps you become more aware of how your daily habits impact your overall health. With that awareness, you’re better equipped to make intentional, informed choices that support how you want to feel.

This kind of proactive approach empowers gradual, meaningful changes — whether it’s moving more, improving your diet, or simply staying better hydrated. Small steps can lead to lasting, life-enhancing results.

Our Approach Isn’t for Everyone

Wellness Management gives you more time, access, and personalized support - but it only works if you’re willing to be an active part of the process.

This model is different from traditional healthcare. It’s not rushed. It’s not transactional. It’s built on relationships, ongoing conversations, and a shared commitment to your long-term well-being. We’ll show up fully for you, but we ask that you do the same.

If you’re looking for a quick prescription or a once-a-year visit, this may not be the right fit. But if you’re ready to take ownership of your health, you want a provider who knows your story; we’re here when you’re ready.

 FAQs

  • At Blue Zone Health and Wellness, we do not accept insurance. Our model is built to simplify healthcare by removing the red tape of insurance billing, so we can focus on what matters most — you.

Instead, we offer a straightforward monthly or annual membership fee that covers all primary care services.

You’re still free to use your insurance for things like specialist visits, hospital care, or prescriptions, but everything provided through your DPC membership is exclusively covered by your membership fee — no surprise bills, no copays, no hassle.

  • Yes, we recommend carrying at least a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) alongside your DPC membership. While your membership covers everyday care, prevention, and direct access to your provider, an HDHP helps protect you in case of emergencies, hospital visits, or specialist care.

It’s important to note that DPC is not health insurance — it’s a way to get more personal, consistent care for your day-to-day health, with insurance there for the bigger stuff.

    • HSA: Currently, the IRS considers DPC membership fees as a type of “health plan,” which means HSA funds typically cannot be used to pay for them.

FSA: There may be more flexibility here. In some cases, FSA funds can be applied toward DPC membership fees, depending on your employer’s plan and IRS guidelines. We recommend checking directly with your FSA provider to confirm.

Please note: Blue Zone Health and Wellness does not provide superbills or documentation for insurance reimbursement, as our model is entirely outside the insurance system.

  • Unfortunately, we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid, and are unable to enroll patients who are eligible for these programs. Due to current regulations, individuals covered by or eligible for Medicare or Medicaid are not permitted to participate in our Direct Primary Care membership at Blue Zone Health and Wellness.

We truly hope this changes in the future and appreciate your understanding.

  • While Direct Primary Care (DPC) and concierge medicine both offer personalized care and better access to your provider, they differ in a few key ways:

    • Payment Structure: DPC charges a flat monthly or annual fee that covers most primary care services — with no surprise bills. Concierge practices typically charge a retainer and bill your insurance for each visit or service.

    • Insurance Billing: DPC practices, like ours, don’t bill insurance. This keeps care simple, transparent, and free from red tape. Concierge practices usually operate within the traditional insurance system.

    • Scope of Services: Both models offer longer appointments and relationship-based care. DPC focuses on comprehensive primary care, while concierge practices may offer expanded services or access to specialists depending on the practice.

    • Transparency: With DPC, pricing is clear and upfront, so you always know what you’re paying for. Concierge models may involve additional fees tied to insurance and extra services.
