A Note from Miguel: The Overlooked Hormone Challenges Veterans Face

Combat stress, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and the demands of military service can lead to hormonal shifts and imbalances over time.

Here’s the issue:

The symptoms of hypopituitarism overlap heavily with PTSD and post-concussive syndrome - making it hard for healthcare providers to identify the true root cause.

Too often, veterans are treated for one condition while a hormone imbalance goes undiagnosed.

Some of the most common injuries among Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are a result of blast exposures.

Research shows that:

  • 25–50% of veterans with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) develop hormone dysfunction - often involving growth hormone, testosterone, and thyroid function

  • 31% of veterans with blast-related concussions screen positive for neuroendocrine disorders

If you’re Connecticut based veteran dealing with:

  • Brain fog

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Sleep issues

  • Weight gain

  • Low libido

  • Low motivation

...it’s worth digging deeper. I'll be accepting more patients soon, and I'd be happy to help if I can.

Comprehensive hormone testing may or may not give you clear answers, but in my professional and personal opinion, it’s worth checking.

Testosterone therapy, in particular, has shown benefits for sexual function, bone density, and muscle mass in men with documented deficiencies.

While the research on cardiovascular effects continues to evolve, what we do know is this: Evaluating and treating hormone imbalances can have a real impact on long-term health and quality of life.

Fifteen years ago today, I left my combat outpost for the last time.

To honor that anniversary - and to celebrate Veterans Day as a new practice owner - I’m extending an ongoing offer of 15% off all services for military service members and veterans.

I’ve got your back, always.
